AI in FCC Conclave Johannesburg 2026 – Workshop: Applying GenAI and Agentic AI Across FCC Operations
A practical workshop on where GenAI and Agentic AI fit into financial crime compliance, with six use cases and the guardrails each one needs.
Most FCC teams can name the tasks that consume their time: copying data between systems, writing lengthy reports, and reading similar documents to reach similar conclusions. At Solytics Partners' AI in FCC Conclave – Johannesburg 2026, this interactive workshop moved from strategy to practice, showing where GenAI and Agentic AI can support these tasks, and how to keep them explainable and defensible to regulators.

- Three Layers of AI – Machine learning (deterministic, well understood by regulators), GenAI (turns unstructured content into structured insight, and must be kept grounded in source material) and Agentic AI (plans and acts, and needs guardrails designed in from the start).
- Adverse Media Screening – Using LLMs to read articles in context, identify whether the entity is the perpetrator, a victim or a bystander, and provide a rationale that supports audit and explainability.
- CDD/EDD Reports – Agents that call existing screening, transaction monitoring and CRM tools, gather results and draft a structured report, with the decision left to the analyst.
- Anomaly Detection – A hybrid approach: ML models using behaviour-based clustering to find patterns beyond rules and thresholds, with GenAI providing narrative explanations.
- Agentic L1 Investigations – A data-gatherer agent, an investigation agent and a narrative agent, checked by a verification layer that validates outputs against policies and SOPs, with a human reviewing before any action.
- Unified Case Management and Risk Assessment – Bringing alerts and context together in one environment, and using AI to map regulatory updates to risk registers and control libraries.

- Use AI at the right step. Apply the right technology (ML, GenAI or agents) to the right task, rather than AI everywhere.
- Design guardrails in. They must be part of the design, not an afterthought.
- Keep humans in control. Analysts review, challenge and decide; the agent does not.
- Maintain audit trails and explainability. Every AI action and rationale should stand up to audit and regulatory scrutiny.
